Laminus A.I.

Laminus is an artificial intelligence system developed entirely by LZ Automazioni for the automatic optimisation of hot rolling processes. Designed to reduce operator dependence and overcome pre-set scheduling limitations, it introduces an adaptive, self-learning approach to plant management.
The integration begins with an advisory phase: the system operates alongside the operator, observing real operations and continuously acquiring plant feedback. Laminus starts from a set of simulator-generated base data and progressively refines its predictive models from every pass, regardless of whether the operator follows the suggested values.
The fundamental objective is to find the optimal gap for each temperature and cross-section combination, making full use of the thermal energy stored in the plate. The system operates within configurable physical limits and a settable utilisation target (typically 90%), reducing passes, energy consumption and mechanical wear.
Laminus does not require information on the chemical composition of the steel being processed. The system autonomously analyses material behaviour and adapts its strategy without specific configurations. The system is developed entirely on proprietary LZ Automazioni architecture — no third-party AI services, no subscriptions, production data remain exclusively within the client's plant.
