Cover Panel Grinding Island — CNC Retrofit 'Ronda'

Automated island for the sanding of wooden cover panels, based on a complete CNC retrofit of a 'Ronda' machine with a new CODESYS control system. The machine operates on three interpolated axes — X, Y and C rotation — programmed via parametric ISO CNC commands, eliminating the need for operators specialised in CNC programming.

The work cycle is managed via recipes: the operator enters dimensional data which can be saved and automatically recalled at loading. The CNC programme autonomously adapts to the specified dimensions without manual reprogramming.

The island integrates a Comau robot programmed in PDL2 for automatic loading and unloading, organised in packs and evacuated via chain conveyors. The system is interfaced with a production server for work order acquisition and cycle statistics, in compliance with Industry 4.0 requirements.
